Recovery with Equity Taskforce

Convened by the Governor’s Council for Post-Secondary Education, the Taskforce brought together California and national experts in higher education equity and innovation to re-envision what’s possible—and point to productive steps forward.

The Taskforce convened monthly starting in August 2020 and followed an intentional, equity-centered process of vision-setting, research and stakeholder engagement to develop a set of relevant, actionable recommendations. View meeting materials

A roadmap for decision-makers

The Recovery with Equity Taskforce report features actions that state leaders can pursue to ensure California’s public post-secondary institutions stride toward this vision for a better future. Recommendations are grounded in best practices and regional nuances and guided by a modern vision for equity and service to students.

Taskforce Leadership

The Recovery with Equity Taskforce was established by Governor Gavin Newsom’s Senior Policy Advisor for Higher Education, Dr. Lande Ajose, in consultation with the Governor’s Council on Post-Secondary Education. The Taskforce is made up of state and national experts in higher education equity and innovation and is chaired by Dr. Ajose.
